A New Leaf

A New Leaf was built in collaboration with her owner to accompany a life long journey to play guitar. It is the first guitar to come out of my new workshop after our move from Denver to Elizabeth. It is an Orchestra Model style, steel string, guitar with a 25.4" scale length. The back and sides are Hawaiian Koa from Pegasus Guitars in Hilo, HI. The soundboard is beautifully quartered Engelmann Spruce, lightly braced with Colorado Engelmann Spruce. The soundboard is carefully voiced following the O'Brien voicing method. The top features Rosewood binding with Pau Abalone Zipflex purfling. The neck is a one-piece Honduran Mahogany neck with a 2-way truss rod. The fretboard is Madagascar Rosewood bound with Rosewood, 20 Evo gold frets, Madagascar Rosewood bridge and Gotoh 510 tuners. The peghead features a client-designed Maple leaf inlay made of blue Paua Abalone. This guitar is finished with Royal-Lac - a durable shellac hybrid. It is a gorgeous instrument with ergonomics of a standard size OM, low profile neck and 43mm at the nut. It has a lovely balanced tone and is a dream to hear and play. Now the journey begins .....
